Hello & thank you for taking the time to visit our blog! Before we go any
further, I would like to take this time to introduce myself. My name is Olivia
Newbold and I am happy to have the opportunity to share some of my gifts and
passions with your families. I am a special education teacher for students who
have mild, moderate and/or severe cognitive disabilities, including students
who are on the spectrum. I have been working with individuals who have disabilities
since I was about ten years old, when I started the first of my volunteer work
in this area. I consider myself blessed for having been able to go to Illinois
State University for my undergraduate and part of my graduate studies. I give
them credit for a lot of what I am able to do. I am originally from Illinois, but have
recently relocated to the San Diego area to be with my fiancé who has been
stationed here for work with the United States Marine Corps. I jumped at the
opportunity to serve on the Board of Directors for the Autism Society,
especially to try to help the military families who have a child on the
spectrum. The military and individuals who have disabilities are two things that
are very near to my heart so anything I can do to help make a positive
difference in these lives is important to me!
The resources that
you are finding have been developed in hopes that they can possibly help you
and your families as you deal with everyday life and having a child on the
spectrum. It is my sincerest desire that you will find some of these resources
helpful to your family!!
